Mrs. Zubedha addressed participants during the training at the Districk Headquarters.

Kayunga District production staff conducted an awareness training of Local leaders at the district headquarters. 

 

The training was aimed at reviewing the current status of the Ugift micro scale irrigation activities and projects to enable local leaders to mobilise and create awareness amongst the farming communities.

 

The DCAO Mr. Kagaba Richard Ndorwa commended the Government for extending irrigation support to farmers, noting that this initiative will year round production and improve household incomes.

 

The DAO Mrs. Bulya Ann requested the political wing to support and supervise the program.

 

 She also gave the guidelines to be followed before registering for the Ugift program. 

 

The SAE Mrs. Namwanje Zubedha outlined the key achievements and challenges affecting the program. " A total of 799 farmers expressed interest in the program, but only 160 farmers have procured the equipments." Said Zubedha .

 

The DPO Mr. Yiga James gave the latest update of the PDM program from inception to date.

 

He further highlighted challenges affecting the program and warned against political interference. 

 

The DRDC Mr.Magezi John lauded the NRM government for this program, describing it as a key driver in improving agricultural output.

 

Ge further appealed to the production staff to continue providing technical support to farmers.
